Everything around is is a multitude of colour. From the common pieces we use in our normal lives to the environment we live and interact in. Being constantly “exposed” to colour has led to us to take its existence for granted. In a street photography setting, colour gives a picture with more subject matter but at the same time, makes producing interesting photos more demanding by throwing in the different shades and hues into the mix.
After publishing Hong Kong Vol 2, I wanted to experiment with colour following a period of producing images in black and white. The exercise was challenging but in the end I achieved a stronger awareness of how to take advantage of colours to tell the narrative I want my photos to represent. In this series, I have focused on the colours red, blue and yellow. Through coincidences and waiting patiently for the appropriate figures to enter into the frame, Hong Kong Vol 3 is a series where colour plays the protagonist of the photos.
